Busch Gardens Tampa reveals ride plans for 2019/20

Listen to this article

It’s already got one of the industry’s best multi-launch rollercoasters in the shape of Cheetah Run, but next year Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will open another.

Tigris, opening in the spring, will be a triple-launch coaster based around Premier Rides’ Sky Rocket ride system. It will catapult riders through looping twists, daring drops, a 150-feet skyward surge and an inverted heartline roll – all at more than 60 miles per hour (96km/h). The ride will feature 866 feet (263m) of steel track, but thanks to both forward and backward launch sequences, riders will race along more than 1,800ft of track.

The attraction will become Florida’s tallest launch coaster. Such a ride, named Electric Eel, was launched earlier this at SeaWorld San Diego, a sister park to Busch Gardens.
The queue line to Tigris will include educational content about the plight of tigers in the wild and what conservationists – including the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund – are doing to help save them.

To “further solidify Busch Gardens’ reign as Florida’s thrill ride leader”, a second thrill ride will be coming to the Gwazi area of the park in 2020. More details are not available at this time. The two new rides will join such guest favourites as the aforementioned Cheetah Hunt launch coaster, SheiKra dive coaster, Montu inverted coaster, Cobra’s Curse spinning coaster and Falcon’s Fury, a 335ft drop tower with added tilting mechanism.
