Compagnie des Alpes, the French amusement, and leisure site operator has published a report that details how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted its leisure parks.

The Group posted sales figures for the first nine months of the financial year 2019/2020. The figures show that following satisfactory growth at the start of the year, in line with the growth trajectory observed in previous years, Compagnie des Alpes began to suffer a sharp financial setback.

The setback corresponded to when lockdown measures were implemented in mid-March in the various countries that the Group operates in.

The data shows after a 13.2% sales growth for the first quarter, the second quarter saw a decline of 12% in sales and the third quarter showing a sales drop of 92.5%.

In total, during the first nine months of the 2019/2020 financial year, Compagnie des Alpes had reached 483.5m euros, a 27.8% decrease compared to the same period of the previous financial year.

Compagnie des Alpes’ leisure parks saw a significant slump in sales activity when lockdown measures were introduced. A total of six sites were forced to close in mid-March and other sites remained shut during the Easter and spring holiday weekends.

Leisure park sales for the third quarter of the 2019/2020 financial year reached 10.0m euros, significantly lower than the 117.5m euros achieved in the same period of the previous year.
