Ski and leisure resort operator Compagnie des Alpes are closely monitoring the current coronavirus situation and are taking appropriate measures to ensure the health of its visitors and employees.
Many of their sites are out of season and were not due to open until April anyway, but the company will follow the recommendations of the public authorities before opening them to the public. Following the public address from President Macron on Thursday 12 March, Compagnie des Alpes have closed two of their France-based sites that were already open, namely Futuroscope and Grévin Paris.
The two attractions closed on March 16 and will remain closed until at least March 29, with Compagnie des Alpes assessing the situation as it continues to unfold.
Other attractions operated by the company include Parc Astérix and France Miniature, which were both originally scheduled to open on April 4, and Walibi Rhône-Alpes scheduled to open its new season on April 11. These opening dates will be also be reassessed with public authority recommendations strictly adhered to.
Compagnie des Alpes has also closed two of its water parks in Belgium, Bellewaerde Aquapark and Aqualibi, after Belgian authorities recommended public places should remain closed until April 3. The Chaplin’s World site in Switzerland has also closed until April 30.
The five sites that have been closed would usually generate around €3.7 million (£3.5 million) in revenue during the second half of March.
