The first of several new themed zones promised at Walibi Belgium was officially opened on June 9.

Exotic World forms part of a multi-year €100 million ‘World of Walibi’ transformation by operator Compagnie des Alpes. The new zone features a South Seas theme and was brought to life using designs by the Dutch company Jora Vision.

Walibi guests are immersed in a tropical paradise sprinkled with colour and whimsy. Central to the offering is a new rollercoaster called Tick-tack. The Gerstlauer construction reaches heights of up to 20m and speeds of up to 55km/h. It is dressed in a tropical race car theme, with carved wooden textures and lush vegetation all around. The station building is made of real Robinson wood, seemingly tied together with rope. Play elements include Tikis that spray water, emit sounds and interact with musical instruments.

The façade of Walibi Belgium’s Challenge of Tutankhamon dark ride has also been overhauled so that it blends seamlessly into the surroundings. Meanwhile the park’s theatre has got a makeover too, and is now called the Tiki-Theater.

“The project has been a complex one, but we’re very proud of the quality we’ve been able to deliver”, says Jora Vision CEO, Jan Maarten de Raad. “It’s a wonderfully immersive world full of details, and a lot of craftsmanship went into it.”

Jora Vision previously worked with Walibi Belgium on a remix of the undercover rollercoaster Psyké Underground and designs for its splash coaster Pulsar.
