The Grand National is off to the races once more as the celebrated duel coaster has reopened after a period of restoration.
The attraction was back on track to coincide with this past weekend’s world famous Grand National horse racing event at Aintree.
To mark the occasion, the park invited two jockeys to sample the upgraded ride, which was first opened in 1935 and is the only surviving twin-tracked duelling roller coaster in the United Kingdom.
The ride features many famous fences from the celebrated horse race, – racing through Becher’s Brook, Valentine’s and Canal Turn before returning to the Winning Post.
Over the off season, the Grand National has undergone necessary maintenance work to ensure both the longevity of the ride and enhancing its ride experience. The entrance to the ride has also been given a make over with glass panelling installed.

“The Grand National has been thrilling riders for almost 90 years and the investment that we have recently made, and the work carried out on it, means that it will continue to do so for many more years. As the current custodian of Blackpool Pleasure Beach I believe that it is important that we maintain these classic rides so that they can continue to be enjoyed by guests for many more years.”
