Hatta to be transformed into major tourism destination

Listen to this article

The town of Hatta that lies high in the Hajar Mountains near Dubai is to be transformed into a major tourism destination.

The major upgrade to the town will include an inland beach, lake and cable-driven mountain railway. In recent years the mountain village, which lies near the border with Oman, has been modernised with mountain biking and kayaking activities.

Being the focus of a major investment project, Hatta will be home to new hotel facilities, as well as around 120km of bicycle tracks.

The renovation of the town is part of a 20-year Hatta Development Plan, which is part of Dubai’s wider 2040 Urban Master Plan, which was unveiled earlier in 2021.

The project is designed to help young entrepreneurs in the local vicinity come up with creative ideas and launch projects.
