Former theme park/resort executive John Hallenbeck has been named as new vice-president of North American operations for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
Based at the association’s headquarters in Orlando, he will oversee membership engagement, growth and service of IAAPA’s largest region, representing more than 3,500 members. Previously Karen Staley was named senior vice-president of North American operations, replacing former vice-president Richard Jackson.

In addition, Hallenbeck has served as chair of the IAAPA Education Sub-Committee for the Asia Pacific region and been a member of IAAPA’s Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Committee. He has chaired the Theme Park Advisory Board at Rosen College of Hospitality Management and served on the Hospitality Management Advisory Board for Republic Polytechnic in Singapore. Hallenbeck is also a long-standing ASTM International member.
“As we continue to expand and strengthen the support we offer our members, we are thrilled to have John join the team,” says IAAPA chief operating officer Doug Stagner. “John brings a wealth of global attractions knowledge to the role. His extensive industry background and strong leadership skills will be key assets as he serves and supports our members in North America”.
