The live open air spectacular Kynren – An Epic Tale of England launched what its creators have described as its strongest season yet with a press preview on June 19.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle in County Durham, Kynren will stage 17 performances this summer. Its entire 1,000-strong cast and crew recently received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The ‘must see’ live action show from the charity Eleven Arches takes audiences on a breathtaking odyssey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend. The 90-minute spectacular is performed after dark on a 7.5-acre stage inside a purpose-built arena. Brand new scenes, new characters and daring and fiery new stunts are promised for 2018.

This year Kynren is focusing on the theme ‘In Remembrance’, marking two very special centenaries – the World War I Armistice and the Suffragette Movement. Those new scenes will include rousing moments of modern history such as Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation and England winning the 1966 World Cup.

Breathtaking effects fill the arena, and new giant waterjet ballet sequences, amazing pyrotechnics and lighting projections will leave audiences transfixed. Bold new stunts will see horses jumping over fire and dragging a Roman along the ground at speed.

In its first two seasons, Kynren earned many five-star reviews on TripAdvisor. The 2018 season runs weekends from June 30 until September 15. More details at evelvenarches.org
