Major coaster planned for Walibi Rhône-Alpes’ 40th anniversary

French amusement park Walibi Rhône-Alpes will celebrate four decades in business next season with the arrival of a spectacular new rollercoaster.

The as-yet unnamed ride will be an Infnity Coaster from Gerstlauer, featuring a 31m-tall vertical ascent and freefall In total there will be 575 metres of track. Other elements will include a dive drop, top hat, zero-G roll, LSM launch and a switch track, which all sound like adding up to a very interestng ride. The top speed will be 85 km/h. To enjoy the experience, Walibi guests must be at least 1.3m in height.

Preparation work began on site at the start of September. To make room for the huge new ride, a quad bike cicuit will be removed and another attraction temporarily dismantled.

Part of the Compagnie des Alpes park portfolio, Walibi Rhône-Alpes is located about an hour from Lyon, and also close to the Swiss border. The 13,000 sq m amusement park features over 31 attractions.

For the 2018 season, guests have been able to enjoy three fresh rides as part of Festival City.
