The government in Wales is planning on developing a new museum in North Wales, alongside a National Contemporary Art Gallery and a Football Museum in Wrexham.
Reports suggest that the Football Museum could attract around 80,000 visitors a year. Estimated costs for running the museum stand at £144,500 annually, which would be provided by the Welsh government.
The Welsh government has announced it is celebrating diversity and will ensure the history and culture of Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities are “properly represented by investing further in our cultural sector and museum network.”
Mark Drakeford, Wales First Minister said: “Our diverse history and culture draws many into Wales and we are determined to do all we can to help our tourism, sports and arts industries recover from the experience of the pandemic.”
The launch of new museums in Wales is part of the government’s drive to “invest in our theatres and museums, including committing to Theatr Clwdy,” and to “enable our tourism, sports and arts industries to thrive.”
