The city of Seville celebrates its annual extravaganza of the Seville Fair.

The festivities last a full week with hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists able to dance, sing and enjoy this most joyful moment.

The Seville Fair first commenced on 18 April, 1847 and to this day remains a hugely important and traditional part of the Spanish calendar.

It is also known as Feria de Abril (April Fair) with the event usually taking place in this month. But due to the Semana Santa (Holy week) this year’s event arrives later.

The portada (Main entrance door) illuminates Saturday at midnight to officially kick start the celebrations.

The event takes part on a plot of land covering 1,200,000-metres Sq. Visitors can enjoy beverages at one of many casetas (Marquees) where traditional Spanish music is played and guests are encouraged to dance the traditional ‘Sevillana’.

One can also see the spectacular sight of horses passing through the fair site where visitors can enjoy a horse-drawn cart journey taking in the area from a great vantage point.

And the fair is open to a huge funfair too located on Calle Infierno (Hell Street). The area covers 300,000-metres Sq. with 500 rides, stalls and activities for all the family. Rides include the XXL swing ride, the Mega Kangaroo, three giant Ferris Wheels and the Ala Delta roller coaster.

The Seville fair encapsulates all the belleza (Beauty) and alegría (Joy) of the region in one huge showpiece experience.
