Merlin Entertainments is investing €20 (US$23.3m) in a new hotel at Italy’s leading theme park.
The 128-room Gardaland Magic Hotel will open on the May 31 next year, joining the resort’s existing Gardaland Hotel and Gardaland Adventure Hotel.
The new four star property will be fully themed, offering a choice of three room types – Foresta Incantata (Enchanted Forest), Cristallo Magico (Magic Crystal) or Grande Mago (Great Wizard). Pitched at families, each room will be divided into two different areas, with a double bed on one side and two single beds on the other.
According to Gardaland CEO Aldo Maria Vigevani, the new hotel will “allow us to bring to life an enchanted, magic hospitality solution, where wizards, elves, talking trees and magic creatures will offer our little guests and their families charming and spellbinding stays”.
Vigevani explains why the time is right for a third hotel: “Within the current economic moment, new waves of tourists are being directed towards our country. Gardaland Resort is also registering an increasing number of Italian guests arriving not just from the north but also from the centre-south of the country. The lake of Garda, with its strong touristic appeal, has made this ambitious project possible.”
The theme park resort is aiming to reach the end of 2018 with 83 per cent and 84 per cent occupancy at the Gardaland Hotel and Gardaland Adventure Hotel respectively.
