Walt Disney World makes masks optional for visitors

Listen to this article

Walt Disney World Resort has made the wearing of facemasks optional for guests visiting the Florida theme parks.

The move was implemented on June 15, 2021. It aligns with new protocol involving facemasks and guests that was introduced earlier at Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Face coverings are now optional for visitors that have been fully vaccinated. They are however still mandatory on transportation at the theme parks, including monorails, buses and Disney Skyliner.

As well as the relaxing of the rules involving face coverings, Disney has introduced less stringent social distancing policies. The more casual guidelines on physical distancing was permitted in queues for rides, in restaurants, shops, transportation, theatres and when boarding attractions.

Both SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Orlando Resort have made the wearing of masks optional for some time now, both indoors and outdoors. Ambassadors at SeaWorld and Universal team members no longer need to wear masks as long as they are fully vaccinated.
