Sesame Place San Diego, the new theme park opening next month in California, is to be sensory friendly.

The new destination will have a host of facilities in place to welcome and accommodate children with disabilities. The park will be a Certified Autism Centre, with designated quiet spaces. The staff will be trained in autism awareness and sensitivity.

Certified Autism Centre designation is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Educational Standards.

Sesame Place San Diego is a 17-acre theme park insipid by the iconic Sesame Street TV shows. It will be the first such venue on the West Coast and only the second such attraction in the United States. The original Sesame Place opened more than 40 years ago near Philadelphia.

Sesame Place San Diego is due to open on March 26, 2022.
