On July 2, Cirque du Soleil launched Amaluna at PortAventura to celebrate the Spanish resort's 20th Anniversary.

The new performance spectacle, which follows a story that unfolds on a mysterious island, follows the success of Cirque du Soleil's Kooza show, which was last year seen by more than 100,000 people.

Written and directed by the Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, Amaluna is the first Cirque du Soleil production with a cast made up almost entirely of women.

More than 300 handmade costumes make up Amaluna's wardrobe, reaching a total of 1,000 pieces including accessories, wigs and footwear.
