SC2, Rhyl’s new waterpark, has launched autism-friendly sessions, designed to give children and adults with autism the opportunity to have fun in the water in a more relaxed environment.

There is no age limit on the weekly sessions, which have a ratio of one carer per participant. Carers can participate in the sessions for free.

Jamie Groves, head of facilities assets and housing, commented on the autism-friendly swims.

“Following feedback from customers over the first month of SC2 opening, we feel these sessions are incredibly important to ensure that all members of our community are catered for and are able to enjoy the waterpark in a suitable environment.

“We appreciate that customers with autism may feel overwhelmed by the fully operating site so during these sessions we are limiting numbers in the pool, only running specific slides and creating a quieter session with no music or announcements.

“We are committed to providing an offer for the community that everyone can enjoy and benefit from,” Groves added.

SC2 in Rhyl prides itself on being a waterpark that offers something for every visitor. The waterpark is suitable for all ages and abilities.

A series of SC2 slides, including the Anaconda, dubbed as the fastest flume in the park, the Speedster, and the Boomerang, means there is plenty for thrill-seekers to get their white-knuckle ride fix at the newly opened SC2.
