The new Fire In The Hole roller coaster at Silver Dollar City is approaching its opening ride, scheduled for 9 March.

It will represent a second coming for the coaster which closed in December at 51 years in existence.

The new Fire In The Hole will cover one-third of a mile in length at 1,512 ft and will be housed within a five-story, climate-controlled building. It will also feature three-water-splashing drops and 14 show scenes.

“One element of the coaster will be a drop effect, so riders will feel like the bridge is dropping with them,” Communications Manager Dalton Fischer said during a construction tour on Monday.

Riders will also enjoy an interaction with the steam train that bellowed past them toward the end of the old ride.

In the new coaster, the ride features a 3-D printed steam train, a model of the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train.

It is a case of all aboard and full steam ahead for the rejuvenated Fire In The Hole attraction.
