Silver Dollar City launched its new record-setting spinning rollercoaster on March 14.

Time Traveler was built by Mack Rides. The Steampunk-themed attraction at the park in Branson, Missouri, claims the bragging rights of world’s fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning rollercoaster.

The $26 million custom-designed ride represents what the park claims is “a new generation of thrill coasters for families”, featuring controlled spinning so as not to provide too dizzy an experience. Riders in each 16-passenger train (four x 4-seater cars) can expect top speeds of 50.3 miles per hour (80km/h) as they traverse through the 3,020 feet-long (920m) course.

The ride begins with an immediate out-of-the-station, 100ft (30.5m) gravity-driven drop at 90-degrees down an Ozarks mountainside. Time Traveler is the only spinning coaster in the world to feature three inversions – a dive loop, zero-G roll and 95ft-tall vertical loop – as well the first to feature two launch sequences: 0 to 47 mph in 3 seconds and 30 to 45 mph in 3.5 seconds. It’s going to be quite a ride!
