A historic day will take place this spring when on 8 April, Cedar Point will open for the earliest opening date in history. And for good reason – guests can view a total eclipse.

Cedar Point has confirmed that the updated Boardwalk section along with the beach will be open to witness the spectacular celestial spectacle.

“For the past year or so, our fans have been asking us to host an eclipse event at the park – and we’ve listened, said Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark.

“Just being inside Cedar Point for a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event should be a treat for the memory books.”

Park officials have yet to announce which of its hotels will be open for the event or which rides will be open for the event – The revamped Top Thrill 2 has scheduled to open this season.

The total eclipse taking place in Ohio will be the first in the state for more than 200 years. The last time it occurred was way back in 1806.

Guests interested should book early as the next projected total eclipse is scheduled for 2099.
