Costa Caribe waterpark to reopen in May
PortAventura theme park in Spain is to relaunch its Caribbean-themed aquatic park following a €11.6m ($15.6m) extension project featuring the tallest toboggan in Europe.
The Costa Caribe Aquatic Park project has seen the addition of 14,000sq.m of new facilities, giving the park a total surface of 50,000sq.m.
Located in Salou near Barcelona, the park is slated to open in May – ahead of the European summer season – featuring three new toboggan rides.
The tallest is the 31m free drop toboggan with a drop speed of six meters per second.
A 20m high multi bump toboggan will be a more moderate experience with a rolling trip and two fast slope changes.
Another area of the park will be dedicated to a six-lane toboggan with a range of slope changes and water jumps.
