Tokyo Disney Resort has announced that the total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland Park and Tokyo DisneySea Park during the fiscal year ending March 31 amounted to 25,366,000 visitors, down by 452,000 persons compared to the previous year.

"Attendance for fiscal year 2010 rose for the first three quarters and into the fourth quarter," Disney said.

"The positive growth can be attributed to several factors including the success of the many special events held at both of the Parks, the opening of the new attraction Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Tokyo Disneyland in January 2011, and the favourable weather conditions throughout the year.

"However, due to the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake, operation of the two Parks had to be suspended, thereby resulting in an annual attendance figure that fell short of both the forecast for the year and the attendance results of the previous year."

Providing an update on the current conditions of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Disney said the "safety of both parks has been confirmed" and will re-open "as soon as possible".
