Drayton Manor has sent ‘shockwaves’ through the leisure industry community by revealing the name of its refreshed flagship roller coaster: The Wave.

The Wave will feature a new train consisting of new lapbar restraints. And due to the ride’s reduced 1.2M height restriction, more children will be able to experience an attraction enjoying its second coming after the success of its predecessor, Shockwave.

Shockwave was Drayton Manor centrepiece roller coaster attraction. Opening in 1994, the ride was Europe’s only stand up thrill coaster and gave joy to million over a near 30-year period.

“Get ready because this spring, we’re making waves for sure!” said Drayton Manor ahead of the opening of The Wave.
