Resorts World Genting (RWG) and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have announced a licensing partnership to develop the first international Twentieth Century Fox theme park at the Malaysian mega-resort.

Planned to open in 2016 at the existing Resorts World Genting venue, the park will give visitors the chance to experience some of Fox's most powerful film brands, including Ice Age, Rio, Life of Pi, Predator and Night at the Museum.

RWG will invest more than MYR400m ($123m) to develop the park, which focuses on delivering a world-class customer experience and aims at least 20 per cent increase of revenue.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman and chief executive of Genting Malaysia, said the partnership is a way to realise RWG's vision of a world-class integrated resort.

"Twentieth Century Fox is one of the world's largest producers and distributors of entertainment content in the world. The Fox brand is popular because the studio has earned a reputation for quality, creativity and longevity," Lim said.

The new theme park is targeted at local and regional visitors from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Among the highlights from the park include more than 25 rides and attractions based on Twentieth Century Fox's range of blockbuster titles.

The Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be closed starting from September 1, 2013.
