Hawaiian Falls in Waco, Texas, is looking to expand beyond its original waterpark, after the company announced it was proposing a $5m adventure park with a 700ft zipline, ropes courses, nature trails and a resort campsite on the banks of the Bosque River.

The owners of Hawaiian Falls presented their vision to the city's parks and recreation board, which agreed to hold a public hearing on November 14.

If the council approves the project by early 2014, construction could begin in spring 2014 and the park could open by spring 2015, officials said.

The adventure park would sprawl across 31 wooded acres the city of Waco owns between the waterpark on Lake Shore Drive and the Bosque River. The entire Hawaiian Falls complex would be about 50a.
