Huss Park Attractions has announced that its first media-based Explorer project will open on Mexico’s Riviera Maya in 2019.

The attraction will form part of the offering at the new Amikoo Resort Destination Theme Park, currently taking shape near Cancun. Visitors will be taken on a simulated deep sea exploration around the seas of Mexico.

Utilising cutting-edge technology, the Explorer provides the sensation of being immersed under the ocean. Passengers will enjoy unrestricted views towards a 360° screen supporting large-format images in combination with suitable sound effects and scents. An unprecedented ride experience is promised.

A themed boarding area will initially engage visitors in the adventure. Guests will enter the 70-seat gondola, themed as a submarine, from a docking bay before it sinks into the deep abyss. The ride will be suitable for all ages, as well as being accessible for guests with disabilities and wheelchair users.

The cabin will move down a central steel tower shaft into a totally enclosed projection scene, as if submerging under the water, taking passengers into an exciting and fascinating underwater world of coral reefs and marine life.

The Amikoo Explorer project offers a perfect mix of entertainment and education, featuring messages to raise awareness about the care of the planet and an emphasis on the oceans and biodiversity. The highly flexible attraction can also, if required, be easily refreshed with a change of media content to offer a whole new experience.

“We are thrilled to be able to announce our first Explorer project,” notes Huss CEO Mirko J Schulze. “We are especially happy that it will be installed in such a significant new development. I’m confident it will be a highly successful element of the Amikoo resort.”
