The Swiss park in Lipperswil is investing 20 million francs in a Mack Rides LSM-launched coaster set to become the country’s tallest, fastest and longest.
Conny-Land has confirmed a major capital investment. The Thurgau-based park will open a new coaster named Massai in 2027 – an LSM-launched Mack Rides BigDipper that is set to become the longest, fastest and highest roller coaster in Switzerland, and the country’s only coaster with an LSM launch system.
The investment totals approximately 20 million Swiss francs. The ride will reach 22 metres in height, cover 500 metres of track, and hit a top speed of 86 km/h. That speed edges out the park’s existing headliner, Cobra, which currently tops out at 85 km/h – and is less than half the length of the planned Massai.
Rather than being pulled up a launch tower as Cobra is, Massai will accelerate from a standing start using linear synchronous motor technology, reaching top speed directly. Two vehicles, each seating eight riders, will operate the ride. Peak g-force is quoted at 4.4g.
One element is drawing particular attention. Park operator Roby Gasser has described a new ride element – already nicknamed the ‘Conny-Land-Loop’ by enthusiasts – in which riders hang inverted for several seconds before the ride continues. Full engineering details have not yet been published, but the park has stated the element has not previously appeared in any roller coaster worldwide. A conventional loop closes the ride sequence.
Massai will not open in isolation. A newly themed African village will be built around the coaster, with the total 20 million franc investment covering both the ride itself and the surrounding area theming. Visualisations show traditional huts, figures and African-style masks integrated into the design. The coaster takes its name from the Maasai, the East African pastoral people.
Track delivery is expected to begin in mid-June 2026, with the first test runs planned for spring 2027. Conny-Land currently attracts around 300,000 visitors per year. The park is positioned as Switzerland’s largest amusement park, located in Lipperswil, Canton Thurgau, close to the German border near Konstanz.
The Mack Rides BigDipper platform has an established European footprint. The model debuted with Lost Gravity at Walibi Holland in 2016, with subsequent installations at Freizeitpark Plohn and, most recently, Fantasiana and the Vienna Prater in 2025. Massai will be the first launched variant of the model.
