Lotte World Adventure in Seoul will open Kong x Godzilla: The Ride on 24 July, marking the debut of the world’s first attraction based on Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse franchise. The multimedia dark ride also represents the largest single attraction investment in the park’s history.

Located on the park’s third floor, the attraction spans approximately 5,124 square metres and transports guests into Hollow Earth, the subterranean world featured in the Monsterverse films. Visitors are recruited as new members of the fictional Monarch organisation before boarding H.E.A.V. (Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicle) expedition craft for a mission alongside Kong.

The experience combines large-format media, motion-based ride vehicles, animatronics, special effects and immersive sound to recreate encounters with Kong, Godzilla and other Titans. According to Lotte World, riders spend around 11 minutes exploring the attraction, with scenes culminating in a battle to prevent the threat spreading from Hollow Earth to the surface world.

The project has been developed in collaboration with Legendary Entertainment, Toho Co., Ltd. and Sally Dark Rides. It is the first time that Legendary’s Monsterverse has been translated into a permanent theme park attraction.

Lotte World has extended the storytelling beyond the ride itself. The queue takes guests through Monarch research and maintenance facilities before a pre-show briefing assigns their mission. The attraction exits through a dedicated retail space offering exclusive merchandise created for the new experience.

The opening also marks Lotte World Adventure’s first attraction to use an external Hollywood film intellectual property, reflecting the growing use of established entertainment brands to create destination attractions. The ride had originally been announced in 2025 before its opening was rescheduled to July 2026.
