Disneyland Paris has officially welcomed Christophe Murphy as its new president, marking the latest senior leadership change within Disney Experiences as the company continues one of the largest expansion programmes in its history.
Murphy assumed the role on 6 July, succeeding Natacha Rafalski, who has moved to become president of Disney Signature Experiences. The appointments form part of a wider executive reshuffle announced by Disney in May following changes at the top of the company’s Experiences division. They reflect succession planning rather than an unexpected departure.
Murphy brings more than 35 years of experience with The Walt Disney Company. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of operations at Disneyland Paris, where he led operational readiness for two of the resort’s most significant recent milestones – the opening of World of Frozen and the launch of Disney Adventure World.
His appointment comes at a pivotal stage for Disneyland Paris. The resort continues to deliver a multi-year investment programme that includes the transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World, the opening of World of Frozen and the future development of a themed land inspired by The Lion King.
In announcing the appointment, Disney said Murphy’s experience in large-scale operations and guest experience made him well placed to guide the resort through its next phase of growth. Before returning to France, he held senior leadership positions across Disney’s European and Asian operations.
Rafalski leaves Disneyland Paris after overseeing a period of major investment and expansion at Europe’s most visited tourist destination. In her new role leading Disney Signature Experiences, she will oversee businesses including Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club and Adventures by Disney.
The appointments were announced alongside other senior leadership changes across Disney Experiences, including Joe Schott becoming president of Walt Disney World Resort. Disney said the new leadership team will support the continued expansion of its global parks, resorts and experiences portfolio.
For the attractions industry, the transition provides continuity at one of Europe’s most influential resort destinations. Murphy has played a central role in delivering recent operational projects, allowing the resort to retain experienced leadership while major capital investments continue
