Disneyland is planning a new themed area inspired by Avatar – The Way of Water and the upcoming Fire and Ash third film directed by James Cameron.
Code named “Avatar destination” Disney has confirmed that it will replace a section of the current Hollywood Backlot area in Disneyland’s California Adventure to become the new Avatar land. Making way will also be Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! Set to close in early 2026.
Disney explains that the Avatar project is still in its early conception stage and further details about its actual construction will follow in due course.
Back in 2024 during a Walt Disney Company earnings call, CEO Bob Iger revealed that the company would be bringing “an exciting Avatar experience” to Disneyland Resort. As of right now, there is no definitive opening date for the Avatar land.
