EVO Entertainment Group is set to expand its North Texas footprint with a new entertainment venue in Forney, Texas. The planned complex will be part of the Village at Gateway, a 152-acre mixed-use development that includes major retailers such as Target, H-E-B, and Home Depot.
The proposed EVO Entertainment center will feature a cinema, bowling alley, and gaming facilities, aiming to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience for families in the region. Pending approval from the Forney City Council, this venue would become the final major component of the Village at Gateway project.
Mitch Roberts, CEO and founder of Elevate Entertainment Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting his family’s deep roots in the Forney community. Roberts is the grandson of Lee Roy Mitchell, a Forney native who founded Cinemark Holdings Inc.
The Village at Gateway, developed by StreetLevel Investments, began construction in November 2024 and is considered one of the largest ground-up retail developments in the southwestern United States. The first phase, expected to open in summer 2026, will offer 500,000 square feet of retail space, with a second phase adding an additional 200,000 square feet. The development will also include 650 multifamily units and a 242,000-square-foot hospital planned by Texas Health Resources.
Forney Mayor Jason Roberson highlighted the significance of the EVO Entertainment venue in addressing the city’s need for family-oriented entertainment options. He noted that the addition would help reduce “retail leakage,” where residents travel to neighboring cities for entertainment, thereby keeping tax revenue within Forney.
EVO Entertainment currently operates three locations in North Texas: Addison, Southlake, and Waxahachie. The Forney venue represents the company’s continued commitment to expanding its presence in the region and providing diverse entertainment options for local communities.
The project is currently under review by the Forney City Council, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.
