Junglia Okinawa, has opened to the public. Located in the Yanbaru National Park area in northern Okinawa, the theme park covers 120ha and features subtropical climate and lush forests.
About 10 million people visit Okinawa every year and Junglia Okinawa is trying to attract tourism demand to northern Okinawa by opening this theme park.
Furthermore, Daisuke Sato, vice president of Japan Entertainment and general director of planning and operation of Katana, talked about the future of the theme park and tourism: “Tourism is also dispersing in the south, and the north is only a passing area.”
Meanwhile, a key aspect to the growth of the theme park is the tourism boast from the Korean market. Korea is a key market, and the proportion of Korean tourists visiting Okinawa accounts for 20 percent, the second largest after Taiwan (40 percent).
Sato added that there are geographical advantages close to Seoul, South Korea, Shanghai, China, and Taipei, Taiwan.
