SeaWorld San Diego has given a welcome return to its Journey to Atlantis water coaster with an revitalised story to boot.
The attraction first opened in 2004 as the first water coaster in San Diego. It follows a crew called the S.E.A. (Science. Exploration. Adventure.) investigating the secrets of the underwater world of Atlantis in Mission Bay.
Key features include expedition maps and references to the mythical sea monster, the Kraken.
Riders will engage with the story through three areas: Discovery, Descent and Escape.
In Discovery, guests will learn about the S.E.A. Collective’s research while Descent takes guests on a tour of Atlantis before they come face-to-face with the Kraken, filled with projection, lighting and impressive water effects.
Finally in Escape, riders will go on a vertical lift before they take a thrilling plunge down into a splash pool to fittingly end their journey.
