Kennywood Park introduces new themed area – Kennywood Junction

Listen to this article

Kennywood, the popular amusement destination in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will open an all-new themed area called Kennywood Junction on April 12, 2025. Designed to evoke the atmosphere of a small steel-town neighborhood, this immersive zone will feature five rethemed rides, a new gift shop, and an indoor Celebration Room for special events such as birthdays and reunions.

Inspired by Pittsburgh’s industrial roots, Kennywood Junction is highlighted by the Olde Kennywood Railroad, offering scenic views of the Monongahela River and the historic Edgar Thomson Works steel mill. During the ride, guests can glimpse nostalgic park memorabilia, including a vintage Log Jammer boat and Kiddie Cadillac. New additions also include a cargo-lifting drop tower, a pint-sized helicopter ride, and an interactive fire engine attraction complete with water-spraying action.

The new area makes its debut on 412 Day, when Kennywood’s first-ever Eggcellent Easter Celebration gets underway. Running on select dates from April 12 to April 27, the event introduces Tuft the Kennywood Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, spring-themed food and drink, and an unlimited brunch buffet. Families can expect a variety of engaging activities, perfect for kicking off the park’s earlier-than-ever start to the season.

In anticipation of the expanded events and new attractions, Kennywood is currently running a Presidents’ Day Sale on Platinum Season Passes, which grant perks like free VIP parking, discounts on food and retail, plus access to sister parks Sandcastle Water Park and Idlewild & SoakZone. With five easy payments available, Kennywood is inviting guests near and far to gear up for its 2025 season and experience the delights of Kennywood Junction.
