Kraftwerk Living Technologies (KLT) has secured a prestigious accolade at the Inavation Awards 2025 for its work on the Chimelong Bermuda Storm Theater. The award, presented in the Arts & Experience category, acknowledges projects that exemplify technical innovation, break new records, and elevate storytelling through immersive entertainment.
KLT’s Managing Partner & CTO, Christian Hofer, and Senior VP of Sales & Business Development, Kevin Murphy, accepted the honor at a gala ceremony on 4 February in Barcelona. The event was hosted by Inavate Magazine and took place during the 2025 edition of ISE.
Chimelong Bermuda Storm Theater is located at the Chimelong Spaceship Indoor Park in Zhuhai, China. Guests embark on a storm-lashed voyage through the notorious Bermuda Triangle, experiencing everything from swirling vortexes and turbulent seas to epic weather phenomena. Immersion is enhanced by high-end projection systems, sophisticated special effects, a purpose-built dynamic motion simulator platform, animatronics, holographic projections, and an ultra-low frequency sound system powerful enough to evoke the sensation of being aboard a ship in a raging storm.
The theater has already earned a THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement and currently holds two Guinness World Records: one for the world’s largest curved projection screen at 1,682m², and another for the highest seated capacity motion simulator, which accommodates up to 304 riders on a single platform designed by Brogent.
The complex project began in 2019 with a quarter-scale model and a full-scale pre-show mock-up near KLT’s headquarters in Wels, Austria. Despite delays caused by the pandemic, the team successfully finalized the installation in October 2023. KLT worked with a roster of renowned partners – including Far Out! Creative, Technifex, Yessian Music, Visual Terrain, Mack Animation, and Brogent – to overcome the technical and logistical challenges of integrating multiple advanced systems into one cohesive experience.
