Maurer Rides creates World’s First Interactive Indoor Coaster

Maurer Rides is delivering the Ground breaking SPIKE® Technology for China’s Largest Indoor Amusement Park.

The world’s first interactive indoor roller coaster will feature innovative SPIKE® technology set to be installed in the new indoor park HI SPACE in Chongqing.

“This ground breaking attraction redefines roller coaster riding and offers each guest a unique, self-determined experience,” commented Maurer Rides at its unveiling.

Meanwhile, the world’s first interactive indoor roller coaster will be China’s first SPIKE®-coaster, becoming a trailblazing technology shaping the future of roller coaster experiences.

Its specifications consist of an 80m x 70 m (262ft. x 230ft.) footprint with an overall track length of 290m (951ft.). The ride will top out at 11m (36ft.) The thrill ride will serve four individually controllable vehicles with a running capacity of 500 people per hour.

Furthermore, its ride duration will be between 27 – 36 seconds, depending on the rider, and have a top speed of 65 km/h (40 mph). Its maximum bank angle will be 50° with a connected load of 235 KW.

“Unusual and breath taking ride figures and inversions ensure that each Spike Coaster is unique, opening up a whole world of possibilities for new roller coasters. Designers can unleash their creativity when designing new, innovative driving elements.”

In addition, the cutting-edge technology features:

  • Patented rack and pinion system
  • Infini Launch: Acceleration of more than 1g at any position on the track – even in corners
  • High speeds, tight curves and extraordinary driving figures
  • Precise speed and position control over the entire route
  • Continuous energy supply and safety monitoring of the vehicles
