Hunderfossen Familiepark near Lillehammer has opened Rally Flåklypa, a new family dark ride built on the Flåklypa IP – Norway’s most-viewed animated franchise. The attraction, developed by Belgian ride and theming specialist BoldMove Nation, formally opened on 16 June 2026 at a grand opening event attended by regional press, international industry guests and the mayors of Lillehammer and Alvdal.

The ride is set inside an existing show building, retrofitted by contractor Veidekke with new wiring, flooring and reconfigured rooms. Despite a footprint of just 220 square metres, the attraction uses a figure-of-eight layout to maximise the available space. Trackless vehicles – supplied by Rogue Rides, a BoldMove subsidiary – carry six guests per car and are each fitted with 21 onboard speakers delivering both audio and vibration effects.

Guests enter a fully automated preshow in which animated characters from the Flåklypa films brief them on the rally mission. The seven-metre Il Tempo Gigante race car, the centrepiece of the 2025 film Flåklypa – Fra Paris til Pyramidene, is revealed by roll-up screens and viewed again from the ice parlour exit. From the boarding station, vehicles travel through a race sequence spanning Paris, the Alps and Egypt before a finale back in the French capital. Augmented reality and a pitstop scene with the character Reodor mending the car are among the practical effects integrated into the experience.

BoldMove Nation served as overall ride concept and theming developer. Its bespoke Kamino show control system manages AV, lighting, effects and both onboard and off-board sound. Oslo-based Qvisten Animation produced the screen media. Theming fabrication was carried out by Kabuki, while Rodco built the full-scale Il Tempo Gigante replica. The Flåklypa IP has been linked to the park since 2014, when the Il Tempo Extra Gigante roller coaster opened. Rally Flåklypa completes a dedicated Flåklypa zone that now includes the coaster, a 4D cinema and the new dark ride, alongside retail and merchandise.

“BoldMove and Qvisten have successfully transformed the Flåklypa universe into an immersive experience, building the excitement from the preshow through the race up to the grand finale,” said Hogne Høstmælingen, park director at Hunderfossen Familiepark.
