The Spanish resort unveils two family-focused additions at Caribe Aquatic Park and the Polynesia area, ahead of what it expects to be another record-breaking season.
PortAventura World has announced two new family attractions opening this summer at its resort near Salou, Spain. Coral Bay, La Leyenda Perdida brings a pirate-themed water zone to Caribe Aquatic Park, while Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek adds an elevated rope trail through the Polynesia area of PortAventura Park.
Coral Bay covers more than 6,000m² and builds on what the resort describes as the best year for visitor numbers in Caribe Aquatic Park’s history. The zone centres on a sunken pirate bay narrative and includes four distinct attractions. Cyclone is billed as the world’s second water coaster and the first in Europe designed for the whole family. Bahía Pirata is described as the world’s first multi-adventure pool. The Crab offers five slide routes from a single tower. Splash Port targets younger children with interactive water play. Dining comes from El Bucanero, a new venue integrated into the theming, with rest areas continuing the sunken-bay aesthetic throughout.
Makamanu Jungle spans 135 metres through elevated paths, rope tunnels, bridges and high-level structures built into the existing Polynesia landscape. The concept frames the area as an ancient volcanic quarry reclaimed by jungle, with a new passage connecting it directly to the Far West zone. The trail features 18 treehouse-style cabins, 20 rope tunnels, three net ladders, four slides and a four-storey central structure with graded difficulty levels. Accessible routes are included for visitors with reduced mobility, alongside a harnessed course for those seeking more challenge. The area carries visual references to a long-running resort show that was central to Polynesia’s identity for years.
Both attractions open this summer. Together, they represent PortAventura World’s latest step in expanding its family leisure offering, targeting repeat visitors as much as first-timers. The Coral Bay world-first claims – if independently verified – carry particular weight with the waterpark sector.
ProSlide confirmed as water ride supplier
Canadian manufacturer ProSlide Technology is supplying multiple rides for the Coral Bay expansion. The confirmed package includes a CannonBOWL 40, FlyingSAUCER 20, Dueling PIPEline, HIVE and TornadoWAVE 60.
The appointment continues a relationship between ProSlide and Caribe Aquatic Park stretching back to the park’s opening. The Ottawa-based company supplied the Mambo, Limbo and El Tifón slides in 2002, then returned for the 2013 expansion — delivering King Khajuna, a 31-metre FreeFALL toboggan, alongside Ciclón Tropical and Rapid Race.
