Shanghai Disneyland saw a frenzy of overnight queues to secure limited-edition merchandise.
In the early hours of a rainy 5 June, hordes of visitors set up tents and stools. They were prepared with umbrellas to line the gates of Shanghai Disneyland.
The overnight campers were awaiting a new release in the Duffy and Friends Rainbow Series with a limited-edition collection of plush keychains.
There were a mixture of Disney fans and also scalpers aiming to cash in on the latest exclusive merchandise.
At 10am, the new series went on sale at the official flagship store. Within seconds, the keychain plush items were completely sold out online.
Demands quickly made its way to second-hand marketplaces, where prices soared rapidly.
The most popular Olu Mel keychain plush, originally priced at 179 yuan (US$25), has been listed for as much as 1,379 yuan. Similarly, the CookieAnn plush, originally 279 yuan, is now reselling for up to 900 yuan.
