S&S Worldwide (S&S) celebrates the reopening of The Steel Curtain coaster with Kennywood Park.
The experienced ride manufacturers worked on essential structural updates for The Steel Curtain roller coaster.
“We take pride in our rides,” says S&S President and CEO, Jason Mons. “We discovered that the structural movement of the Steel Curtain may impact its longevity. Therefore, we started making plans both internally and with the park.”
S&S has enjoyed collaborating throughout the project, as S&S Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Trever Dyer, highlights: “Working with Kennywood, Palace Entertainment, and Parque Reunidos, has been such a great experience.
“We are grateful for such committed partners that share our long-term vision to keep this amazing ride running for many generations.”
S&S stated that it ‘couldn’t be more excited’ for Kennywood guests to experience this record-breaking coaster again.

At 220 feet, The Steel Curtain is Pennsylvania’s tallest roller coaster. The ride also boasts two other records, the highest inversion and most inversions in North America with nine.
Kennywood dares guests to “put your nerves to the test with Steel Curtain”
A ride onboard The Steel Curtain is to climb 220 ft. on PA’s tallest coaster and go head-over-heels nearly 200ft. above Steelers Country through the highest inversion in North America before rushing a whooping nine thrilling upside-down twists, turns and airtime hills, reaching a maximum speed of 76mph
Kennywood named the ride after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ famous 1970s defensive line. The ‘Steel Curtain’ led Pittsburgh to its first four Super Bowls in the 1970s.
