The popular family zoo and entertainment park Drusillas in Sussex was especially exciting for youngsters this month, with the arrival of the friendly animated dog, Hey Duggee.

The much-loved character from the British animated education television series aimed at pre-schoolers, enthralled young fans during what was his first official meet and greet appearance in the UK.

Hordes of Hey Duggee admirers arrived at the park for ‘Duggee Hugs’ and the chance to get selfies next to the friendly dog.

Cassie from Drusillas Park commented about the successful ‘meet and greet’ session at Drusillas.

“The Hey Duggee meet and greet at Drusillas Park was a successful event. We were delighted to see so many Duggee super fans coming along to meet him! A lot of them had Hey Duggee t-shirts and toys which was lovely to see.”

Hey Duggee is the leader of the Squirrel Club, an after-school club where kids can go to have adventures and earn activity badges.

The award-winning series Hey Duggee was first aired on CBeebies in 2014. The preschool series quickly became a huge hit, encouraging children around the world to have fun alongside Hey Duggee and his friends and get involved in the Squirrel Club.

“Duggee was such a hit at Drusillas that they’ve invited him back again in the summer,” said Georgina Huckle, Rainbow’s Creative Marketing Manager.

“We’re hoping he breaks the record for the most ‘Duggee Hugs’ during his second visit!” Huckle added.

The friendly, brown dog will be visiting other destinations throughout 2019, including Flamingo Land, Market Rasen Racecourse and Gloworm Festival.
