The Royal Highness Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall gave their royal seal of approval by opening Southend Pier’s new eco-friendly trains recently.
Severn Lamb, leaders in the transportation manufacturing industry for over 50 years, have delivered the brand new fleet of trains. And the service being welcomed by royalty was a proud moment for Managing Director and Grandson of the Severn Lamb, Patrick Lamb.
Severn Lamb and the Royal family are synonymous with each another – their original trains were also presented by royalty with Princess Anne opening a new service 36 years ago.
The existing train vehicles have been in operation since 1986 and will be replaced by the new green and white train vehicles.
The new trains feature state-of-the-art AV technologies on board with increased accessibility and an enhanced visitor experience. Meanwhile, the trains capacity has risen from 180 to 244.
