Center Parcs is gearing up to open its first leisure park in Ireland. The project in County Longford will debut in summer 2019 and feature the country’s largest waterpark.

The centrepiece of €233 million Center Parcs Longford Forest will be the 29.5°C Subtropical Swimming Paradise. Nestled amongst lush green tropical plants, the 3,500 square metre waterpark will provide endless hours of fun. At a recent press conference, invited guests were shown a 55,777 brick Lego model of the waterpark built by Irish mother and son Lego artists Jessica and Faolán Farrell.

Center Parcs guests will be able to take a dip in the large family wave pool, tackle the Wild Water Rapids, make a splash in the children’s water play areas or relax in the tranquil whirlpools.

The indoor waterpark will come complete with 350m of exhilarating rides and flumes suitable for all ages. Highlights will include the Tropical Cyclone, a family raft ride with a gravity-defying drop; the Typhoon, a two-seater ride with drops, swings and speeds of up to 45km/ph; and the Twister, a thrilling family body slide.

The Subtropical Swimming Paradise will also feature private family cabanas and a cafe bar. Entry to the waterpark will be free each day from 10am-9pm for all Center Parcs Longford Forest guests.

Set within 400 acres of woodland, the Longford destination will feature 466 high quality lodges, accommodating up to 2,500 guests at a time. As with all Center Parcs venues, there will also be many paid-for activities available elsewhere in the resort – everything from aerial adventures, water sports and laser combat to cupcake decorating and willow weaving.

“It’s incredibly exciting to unveil our plans for the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, the heart of every Center Parcs resort,” says Martin Dalby, CEO of Center Parcs’ UK and Ireland operations. “We are confident that Center Parcs Longford Forest will revolutionise the short-break market for Irish families.”
