The legendary Dolly Parton is certainly staking her claim in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, with the construction of the Dolly Parton Company’s newest attraction in the Smokies – the Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show.
The building of Pirate Voyage began in early January. The first stage of the construction project involved the building of the lagoon, the centrepiece of the new attraction, which will house the two pirate ships, where the show’s action will take place. The huge 15-foot lagoon will hold 300,000 gallons of water.
A cast of 20 has the handpicked for the show followed an intense nationwide talent search. Rehearsals and training are already underway, including intensive acrobatic and diving training for the pirates and mermaids.
Construction of the set’s exterior is about to get underway, which see the new site really start to take shape.
Steve Cruz, corporate director of marketing at World Choice Investments, which manages Pirates Voyage, commented on the construction of the highly-awaited new Pigeon Forge set.
“Among our ‘pirates crew’ here for our new Dinner & Show, we like to say that we are going ‘overboard’ with the details as we prepare everything – from the show elements to the new four-course menu to the exterior.
This is going to be a show that guests to our Smoky Mountain area are not going to want to miss. People have been asking for details, so we thought now would be a good time to share some of those.”
The Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show site is due to be completed in May. The construction of the set is a $9 million project, in addition to the initial investment in the property for a total of $28 million.
