Thanks to the incredible generosity of many within the amusement industry, America’s National Roller Coaster Museum (NRCMA) is doubling the size of its Texas archive facility.
As from next year, the site in the city of Plainvew will feature an almost 10,000 square feet exhibition space. The Mark Moore Wing, named after a founding NRCMA board member, will display a portion of the museum’s vast collection of artefacts, designs, photographs and ride vehicles for public viewing and for research purposes. Its nearly three-storey vaulted ceiling will allow the largest of the equipment and signage to be displayed, as well as providing a second floor mezzanine for additional exhibits.
The new building will be attached to the existing 10,000 sq ft archive space. A new entrance building will feature a ticket booth from a 1930s Eyerly Octopus ride, pre-experience theatre and a multi-purpose carousel-themed meeting room.
Construction will begin in spring 2019. The interior design and exhibition space completion are estimated to conclude in the summer of 2021. Fundraising for the expansion is continuing. Donations can be made online at rollercoastermuseum.org
