Listen to this article

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is offering fans the chance to own their very own piece of the UK amusement park’s history – an original car from its classic Wild Mouse ride.

The much-loved wooden coaster was retired last winter, but now one of its eight ride vehicles has resurfaced as an auction item on eBay (see here).

‘Libby’, car number 6, is also available to purchase as a ‘Buy It Now’ item at £5,000. The sale went live at midday on Thursday, November 8, and is due to close on Saturday the 10th – so be quick if you’re interested!

The fee from the sale will go to the IAAPA Foundation – a charity, which provides scholarship, career and mentoring opportunities in the global attractions industry.

The Wild Mouse was built in-house at the Pleasure Beach in 1958 by the park’s then general manager, Frank Wright. In good condition, car no.6 is for sale is decorated with all of the original artwork and features, such as the nose, eyes and whiskers and popular print design. Weighing in at 211kg, the successful buyer will need to collect it in person from Blackpool, or arrange a courier service to pick it up.
