SeaWorld continues coaster strategy with new B&M ride for San Diego

Listen to this article

SeaWorld San Diego will add its tallest rollercoaster ever in 2020 as the beleaguered marine park chain continues to invest in attendance-building thrill rides.

The new dive coaster attraction (as pictured) will be supplied by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) and is believed to be named Mako.

Sharing the news in a recent newsletter from International Theme Park Services (ITPS), theme park analyst Dennis Speigel noted that “SeaWorld is having success with the rides. It’s helping them offset the Shamu performance shows they stopped with the orcas.”

Ahead of the new B&M construction, SeaWorld San Diego will open a powered Skywarp coaster from Skyline Attractions in 2019, named Tidal Twister.
