Marking the start of the Chinese New Year, February 5, 2019 saw Hong Kong Disneyland launch a new scheme designed to encourage families to carry out volunteer work at the park in return for free entry tickets.

The new project is part of the park’s successful ‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ (GADGADD) program. GADGADD was launched in 2010 with the aim of enlisting the help of local residents to participate in eight hours of volunteer work in exchange of a one-day complimentary park ticket for Hong Kong Disneyland.

Coinciding with the first day of the Chinese New Year, Hong Kong Disneyland is inviting around 100 family volunteers from the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council in association with the Outlying Islands Women’s Association, to celebrate Chinese New Year and support the launch of the new scheme.

Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong and former Secretary for Development of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, was guest of honour at the ceremony.

The prestigious event also saw an award-winning lion dance team perform to share their New Year blessings with guests formed by students from the Buddhist Fat Hi Memorial College in Tai O.
