Attendance up in Walibi Rhône-Alpes’ 40th anniversary season

The French amusement park Walibi Rhône-Alpes finished its 40th anniversary season with 475,000 guests – 10,000 more than in 2017.

Park attendance continues to grow thanks to the introduction of new rides and attractions, such as those added this year in the new Festival City area. The colourful themed environment is inspired by New Orleans and features three rides: Hurricane (Vertical Swing/Star Flyer), Dock’N Roll (Rockin’ Tug) and Balloon Race, all supplied by Zamperla. Standing 49.7m tall, Hurricane has become a new landmark at Walibi Rhône-Alpes, riding almost half of all guests – 230,430 – over the course of the season.

The park also enjoyed another popular Halloween , which came to a close on November 4. The new Alcatraz haunted house was visited by 24,000 courageous guests in just 18 days. Waiting for them inside were some 20 zombie prisoners and crazy inhabitants.

The 2018 results are in line with the strategy of Walibi Rhône-Alpes and its parent company Compagnie des Alpes, which implemented a new investment plan in 2015. By 2022, the plan is to grow annual attendance to 600,000.
