Favourable weather conditions have resulted in a strong start for Belgium’s leading theme park, reports suggest.

According to Belgian daily Le Vif, more than 25,000 people visited the Walibi and Aqualibi resorts last weekend, figures that bode well for the important upcoming Easter break.

"This is one of the best opening weekend of Walibi, thanks to the sunny weather, but also because of the many proposed new park this season," said Caroline Crucifix, spokesperson for European resorts giant Compagnie des Alpes.

For its part, rival park Pairi Daiza welcomed some 15,000 people throughout the weekend, while The Wild World of Aywaille attracted 16 per cent more visitors than last year, Le Vif said.
