Award-winning Puy du Fou is surveying the United Kingdom for prospective sites for its first UK-based theme park.

It is believed that the theme park is looking for a 300 to 400-acre site close to the city of Oxford due to its central location and close proximity to London.

Puy du Fou currently has two theme parks in operation – Les Epesses in the Pays de la Loire region of western France and Toledo, Spain, located in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha.

The establishment of Puy du Fou in the UK would be a landmark moment given that the theme park has been acknowledged with the Best Theme Park in the World award on two occasions.

It also won the award for being the number one theme park in the world, according to TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice rankings in June 2022.

The Oxford Mail report that Real estate company, Savills has been appointed to pinpoint prospective sites across the United Kingdom.

Ian Simpson, head of the leisure and trade-related team at Savills, says: “Puy du Fou is an incredibly popular interactive visitor attraction that centers its shows on a country’s unique history.

“The operator has been attracted to the UK because of the richness and depth of British history and culture and we are delighted to support the group in its search.

“In recent years we have seen the popularity of experiential and immersive visitor attractions grow in the UK and with the UK’s extensive history, this will add a unique experience for the British public.”
